By then, temperatures will climb from the upper 70s in the east to near 90 degrees west of Highway 281. Southerly winds will also pick up, with gusts reaching 25–30 mph by Saturday afternoon.

The quiet, warm pattern comes to an abrupt end on Sunday. A strong cold front will sweep through the region, bringing powerful north winds of 25–35 mph and gusts topping 50 mph Sunday afternoon and evening. Both ahead of and behind the front, an elevated to critical wildfire threat is expected due to the combination of warm temperatures, dry air, and strong winds.

Much colder air pours in Sunday night, dropping temperatures into the 30s, with wind chills dipping into the 20s by early Monday. The cold snap will be brief, however. After a blustery start to the week, temperatures rebound quickly, returning to the 70s and 80s by midweek.
