On Wednesday, November 10, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade (1ACB) held a Change of Responsibility and Color Casing Ceremony at Cooper Field on Fort Hood. The ceremony celebrated the outgoing Command Sergeant Major, CSM Carlos Loeza of El Paso, TX as well as the incoming Command Sergeant Major, CSM Tyrone Murphy.
CSM Loeza’s first assignment after he enlisted in the Army in 1999 was to 1st Air Cavalry Brigade on Fort Hood. He came back to serve as the CSM of 1ACB in September 2019. He will move on to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.
CSM Murphy has also previously been assigned to 1st Air Cavalry Brigade and has come back to 1ACB after serving as the CSM for 603D Aviation Support Battalion in Savannah, Georgia.
After the conclusion of the Change of Responsibility, the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade cased its colors, signifying the start of their deployment to Europe in support of Atlantic Resolve. The rotation will be for approximately nine months with about 2000 soldiers in order to build trust amongst other NATO allies and countries as well as be better prepared to face future threats towards America. It also allows 1ACB to participate in various operations and train with other branches of the military to increase overall military readiness.
