If you’ve spent time around Central Texas College, chances are you’ve met Bruce Vasbinder and likely left with a smile.

For nearly 19 years, Bruce served as a media liaison and storyteller for CTC, helping share the college’s milestones and everyday moments with the community. He began in the sports department in 2004, later serving as interim sports director before transitioning to Community Relations. His writing and photography were frequently featured in the Killeen Daily Herald, reflecting his deep connection to the people and stories of Central Texas.

Colleagues remember Bruce as steady, approachable, and genuinely committed to those he served.

Though now retired from CTC, Bruce remains an important part of the KNCT family. He hosts Sock Hop Saturday Night, co-hosts station events, and continues to connect with listeners through the music and memories of a timeless era.

At home, Bruce dedicates much of his time to caring for his parents, a quiet but powerful reflection of the same loyalty and heart he’s always shown his community.

As Bruce once said, “Every day was something different.” That spirit, and the stories he shared, remain a lasting part of CTC and KNCT.
