Veterans across Central Texas will have an opportunity to connect with vital resources, hear from VA leadership, and engage directly with community partners as the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System hosts its Freedom 250 Town Hall and Resource Fair on Thursday, July 16th from 9 a.m. to noon.
Held at the Harry B. Macey, Jr. Conference Center inside Temple College’s Main Building, the event is designed to bring Veterans, families, and caregivers together under one roof for a morning of information, support, and open conversation. More than 20 vendor tables will be on site, offering access to health care programs, benefits assistance, mental health resources, and a wide range of Veteran‑focused services. Light refreshments will also be available.
A highlight of the event will be keynote remarks from Kenneth O. Preston, retired 13th Sergeant Major of the Army, whose leadership and advocacy continue to resonate strongly within the Veteran community. His appearance underscores the importance of the Freedom 250 initiative — a national effort recognizing America’s legacy of service while ensuring Veterans have clear pathways to the benefits and support they have earned.

In addition to the resource fair, attendees will hear updates from VA leadership and take part in an open town hall discussion. This format gives Veterans a direct voice in addressing needs, raising concerns, and learning more about ongoing improvements within the VA system.
The Freedom 250 Town Hall and Resource Fair is open to Veterans, their families, caregivers, and the media, reflecting the VA’s commitment to transparency, accessibility, and community partnership.
