Drivers in central Killeen should prepare for temporary traffic changes as the City of Killeen Engineering Department announces alternating lane closures on South 2nd Street between Hallmark Avenue and Log Avenue. The closures will run Wednesday, July 1 through Friday, July 10, excluding weekends, and will be in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting.

The lane reductions are necessary to allow a private contractor to upgrade and improve the gas infrastructure line serving the area. These improvements are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen utility reliability and support future growth in the surrounding neighborhoods.

A full traffic control plan will be in place throughout the project. Crews will guide vehicles safely around the work zone, but motorists should expect slower movement and occasional delays. Drivers are urged to use caution, remain alert for workers and equipment, and obey all posted traffic control devices.
