There are few sights more peaceful than a Central Texas sunrise reflecting off the water — and on Friday, June 26, Belton Parks & Recreation is giving residents the chance to experience that beauty up close. The department will host Sunrise Kayaking: Paddle the Leon River, an early‑morning group paddle designed to help participants start their day with calm, connection, and a front‑row seat to nature’s quietest hour.

The adventure begins at the Heritage Park Kayak Launch, where paddlers will gather before first light and push off together as the sun rises over the river. The event is free and open to all ages, making it an ideal outing for families, beginners, and seasoned kayakers alike.

Participants are welcome to bring their own kayak and life jacket, but Belton Parks & Recreation will also provide equipment while supplies last. For safety, all children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult guardian on the water.

The group paddle will begin promptly at 6:00 a.m., and because space is limited, pre‑registration is required. Those hoping to join are encouraged to reserve their spot early — sunrise waits for no one, and this peaceful morning escape is expected to fill quickly.
