Supporting Military Moms Through the PSTAIR Program

As the Month of the Military Child comes to a close, The Voice of Texas Veterans with Julia Conner turned its attention to the people who hold so much of a military family’s world together—its mothers. Yesterday’s program highlighted an important opportunity for active‑duty and veteran moms across Texas: the Parenting STAIR (PSTAIR) Study, now enrolling participants through September.

The Stephen A. Cohen Military Family Clinics at Endeavors—located in Killeen, San Antonio, and El Paso—are inviting military‑connected moms to take part in this groundbreaking program. PSTAIR is a cutting‑edge, evidence‑based therapy designed specifically to help mothers navigate the emotional weight that can follow difficult or stressful experiences. For many, those feelings can spill into parenting, making everyday moments feel heavier than they should.

The study offers moms the chance to:

  • Learn effective ways to manage tough emotions
  • Build stronger, healthier relationships
  • Feel more confident and grounded in their parenting

Participation is structured, supportive, and tailored to each mom’s needs. It includes:

  • Targeted individual treatment sessions over the course of 3–4 months
  • Three online assessments and parent‑child play sessions
  • Compensation of up to $150 in Amazon gift cards

The heart of the message shared on the program was simple: If you’re a Texas‑based military‑connected mom who has lived through something difficult or stressful—and you feel it affecting how you show up as a parent—you’re not alone, and help is available.

PSTAIR is designed to meet moms where they are, offering tools to manage overwhelm, distress, or anger, and helping them reconnect with the parent they want to be. It’s about strengthening families, supporting resilience, and honoring the unique challenges military moms face every day.

Listeners were encouraged to learn more and connect through the study’s website, where they can find details, eligibility information, and sign‑up options.

As Julia reminded her audience, wrapping up the Month of the Military Child also means supporting the parents who guide, protect, and nurture those children—especially when life gets hard. The PSTAIR study is one more way Texas continues to stand behind its military families.
