The City of Killeen Parks and Recreation Department is calling on residents to roll up their sleeves and show some love to one of the community’s most popular outdoor spaces. Love Your Park Day returns on Saturday, March 7, with volunteers gathering from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Long Branch Park, located at 1101 Branch Drive.
The annual event is designed to bring neighbors together in a hands‑on effort to care for and enhance Killeen’s parks. This year’s projects focus on painting the skate park and revitalizing the playground, improvements that will help refresh the space for families, youth, and visitors ahead of the busy spring season.
“Our parks are gathering spaces that bring neighbors together and support healthy, active lifestyles,” said Kaitlyn Roberts, recreation manager for the City of Killeen Parks and Recreation Department. “Love Your Park Day gives our community a chance to take ownership of these spaces and help ensure they remain safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.”
Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and no registration is required. The Parks and Recreation team will provide all necessary supplies, along with snacks and drinks to keep participants energized throughout the morning. Attendees are encouraged to dress for painting and outdoor work—and to expect a little mess along the way.
Love Your Park Day is part of the city’s ongoing effort to foster community pride and stewardship by inviting residents to play an active role in maintaining public spaces. Whether it’s a fresh coat of paint or a few hours spent improving a playground, each contribution helps strengthen the sense of connection that parks bring to Killeen.
