Rain-free and seasonally warm conditions are expected to continue across Central Texas through the week, with afternoon highs ranging from the mid-80s to low 90s and overnight lows settling in the 60s. In the Austin and San Antonio areas, residents can look forward to abundant sunshine and daytime temperatures that hover near or slightly above seasonal norms. Winds will remain light, generally from the east at 5 to 10 mph.

KNCT Meteorologist Bill Hecke noted this morning that the weather pattern remains consistent with recent days. Monday begins with clear to partly cloudy skies and early temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. Cloud cover may increase slightly throughout the day, but conditions will stay dry, with highs reaching into the upper 80s and low 90s. Occasional gusts between 15 and 20 mph are possible.

National Weather Highlights

Elsewhere across the country, Tropical Storm Imelda is expected to strengthen into a hurricane and move eastward out to sea by midweek. While the storm’s center remains offshore, tropical moisture pooling along the Southeast U.S. coastline may trigger showers and thunderstorms, particularly in low-lying areas prone to poor drainage.

Meanwhile, a series of Pacific frontal systems will bring waves of rain and thunderstorms to northern California and the Pacific Northwest. The Intermountain West may also see periods of heavy rainfall through midweek.

Across the northern and central Plains, Upper Midwest, and Great Lakes, unseasonably warm temperatures persist, with daytime highs exceeding seasonal averages by 10 to 20 degrees in some areas. Overnight lows will also remain elevated, generally in the 50s and 60s.
