Copperas Cove ISD is making a significant investment in its technology infrastructure, aiming to enhance educational tools and operational efficiency across the district. During its regular meeting on Monday, the Board of Trustees approved the purchase of more than 1,400 new computers. Of these, 113 will be allocated to staff, while 1,300 student devices will replace outdated equipment.

The board also approved the adoption of Lightspeed Software, a classroom management tool that enables teachers to monitor and guide student technology use. Additional upgrades include two Dell servers with accessories to support district-wide functionality, as well as new switches and access points designed to improve network performance.

Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins emphasized the importance of these updates, noting that while the improvements won’t resolve all infrastructure challenges immediately, they represent a meaningful step toward meeting the expectations of students, parents, and staff.

In addition to technology enhancements, the district is updating its transportation fleet. Trustees approved the purchase of six Chevy Trax SUVs to provide a more cost-effective option for staff travel to meetings and conferences. The move is expected to reduce expenses compared to the current use of larger vehicles.

Further fleet updates include three new maintenance trucks, a cargo van, and two passenger buses, all aimed at replacing aging vehicles and improving service reliability.

The Board of Trustees will hold its next workshop on October 20 at 6 p.m., followed by its regular meeting on October 27 at the same time. Both sessions will take place in the Board Room at the District Service & Training Center on South Main Street.

Agendas for each meeting are posted outside the District Service & Training Center three business days prior to the meeting. Once posted, they can be viewed online at www.CCISD.com/SchoolBoard.
