The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host its annual Southwest Dairy Day on Wednesday, October 9, at Double N Cowboy Church, located at 7202 E. State Highway 6 in Dublin, Texas. The event will include a guided tour of Pepper Grass-Fed Organic Dairy and Heifer Farm, showcasing innovative practices in dairy production.

Recognized as the largest dairy field day in Texas, Southwest Dairy Day offers producers and industry professionals a chance to explore new technologies, hear from experts, and connect with peers across the region. The event is free and open to dairy producers, allied industry representatives, and community members. However, preregistration is required for the dairy tour due to transportation logistics and paperwork needs.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with buses departing for the farm tour beginning at 9 a.m. Attendees will hear from a range of speakers, including representatives from DeLaval, who will discuss robotic milking systems and herd management strategies. Additional presentations will be offered during the bus ride, featuring insights on manure management and forage research from AgriLife Extension specialists.

Breakout sessions at the church will cover topics such as:

  • Embryo transfer and reproductive efficiency
  • Biosecurity and preparedness for HPAI outbreaks
  • Innovations in manure management
  • Hydroponic foddering techniques, including a live demonstration

The event is cohosted by Jennifer Spencer, Ph.D., and Juan Piñeiro, DVM, Ph.D., both faculty members in the Texas A&M Department of Animal Science.
