City of Killeen offices will close Monday, Sept. 1, to observe Labor Day.

  • Emergency services will continue without interruption.
  • All trash collection routes will remain unchanged.
  • Transfer Station will open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • The Killeen Recycling Center will be closed, and all recycling trailers will be at the rodeo grounds at 3601 South WS Young Drive.
  • The Family Recreation Center will open from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The Family Aquatic Center will open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Long Branch Pool will open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Libraries, the Lions Club Park Senior Center, and the Solid Waste Administration Building will be closed.

City offices will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 2, during normal business hours.


Bulls, Bands & Big Smiles: Central Texas State Fair Lights Up Belton This Weekend

The Cadence Bank Center is buzzing with energy as the Central Texas State Fair rolls into its biggest weekend yet, running through Sunday, August 31. With carnival lights, country beats, and the roar of rodeo fans, this four-day celebration is more than just a fair—it’s a full-on Texas experience.

🎶 Live Music That Moves the Crowd

Each night delivers headlining acts that span genres and generations:

  • Saturday, Aug. 30: Niko Moon brings his signature blend of country and pop.
  • Sunday, Aug. 31: Switchfoot closes out the fair with their high-energy alternative rock.

Concerts are included with fairground admission.

🐂 Arena Action: PBR & Demolition Derby

The PBR Challenger Series takes center stage Saturday and Sunday at 7 PM. Expect heart-pounding bull riding and top-tier talent from across the region.

🎠 Carnival Rides & Family Fun

From thrill rides to kiddie coasters, the midway is packed with excitement. Wristbands are available for unlimited rides, and Saturday/Sunday carnival hours run from 5 PM to midnight.
