Next Week’s Outlook – Central Texas
A stronger-than-usual cold front is set to move through the region next week, bringing a noticeable drop in temperatures. Expect widespread highs in the 80s—well below seasonal norms.
This front will also reintroduce rain chances starting late Monday, with scattered showers likely to linger through midweek.
Hurricane Erin Update – East Coast Impacts
Hurricane Erin continues to churn offshore, with its growing circulation bringing ongoing effects to parts of the East Coast. Tropical storm conditions remain possible along the North Carolina Outer Banks and are expected to extend northward into coastal Virginia throughout Thursday.
Further up the coast, wind gusts reaching tropical storm strength are likely from the Mid-Atlantic into southern New England, especially from Thursday into early Friday.
Storm surge flooding will persist along the Outer Banks, with large waves causing significant beach erosion, overwash, and potentially impassable roads. Dangerous surf and rip currents remain a serious threat along much of the East Coast and are expected to continue for the next few days.
Beachgoers are urged to heed warnings from lifeguards, local officials, and posted beach flags to stay safe.
