Copperas Cove ISD continues to shine as a beacon of academic excellence in Central Texas, earning a solid “B” rating from the Texas Education Agency for the fourth consecutive year. In the 2025 accountability ratings released Friday, all 11 CCISD campuses met state standards, with eight schools earning a “B” or higher.
Among the standout performers, Martin Walker Elementary received an impressive “A” rating with a score of 91—its third “A” in four years. Copperas Cove High School followed closely with a grade of 89, joining seven other campuses in the “B” category, including Williams/Ledger Elementary, which improved its rating this year. Other “B”-rated campuses include Clements/Parsons Elementary, Fairview/Jewell Elementary, House Creek Elementary, Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy, and Crossroads High School.
Three campuses—Hettie Halstead Elementary, Copperas Cove Jr. High, and S.C. Lee Jr. High—earned high “C” ratings, continuing to meet state standards while showing growth.
Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins praised the district’s consistent performance, stating, “Copperas Cove ISD continues to prove itself as the premiere district of choice in Central Texas. These ratings reflect the dedication of every student, teacher, and staff member. While I’m proud of the results, I’m even more proud of the daily commitment to creating a safe, warm environment where learning thrives.”
Beyond ratings, the TEA also announced 18 academic distinctions earned by six of CCISD’s nine eligible campuses. Highlights include:
- Copperas Cove High School: Postsecondary Readiness (98% College, Career & Military Readiness)
- Copperas Cove Jr. High: Academic Achievement in Mathematics
- S.C. Lee Jr. High: Academic Achievement in Social Studies and Top 25%: Closing the Gaps
- Clements/Parsons Elementary: Four distinctions including Academic Achievement in Mathematics and Postsecondary Readiness
- Fairview/Jewell Elementary and Martin Walker Elementary: Five distinctions each, including Academic Achievement in Reading/Language Arts and Mathematics
Deputy Superintendent Amanda Crawley emphasized the district’s instructional strength: “Our students, teachers, and campus leaders have not only outperformed many surrounding districts, but have also exceeded state and regional averages. These results show that when we work together with focus and intention, our students thrive.”
In addition to the 2025 ratings, the TEA released 2024 distinction data, where CCISD earned its only possible district-wide distinction—Postsecondary Readiness. Eight of nine eligible campuses earned at least one distinction, with Fairview/Jewell Elementary earning all six possible honors.
As Dr. Hawkins noted, “Our focus always has been and will continue to be on student achievement and expanding program opportunities for our students. We look forward to building on these results and strengthening our position as the district of choice in Central Texas.”
