Deadline: Friday, August 29, 2025

The City of Temple is once again inviting residents to honor the brave men and women who have served our country through its heartfelt Hometown Hero Banner Program. This annual tribute celebrates veterans, active-duty service members, and fallen heroes by displaying their images on banners throughout Downtown Temple—from the Santa Fe Plaza to the Santa Fe Market Trail.

The banners will be proudly displayed from October 27 through November 21, offering a visual salute to those who’ve worn the uniform with courage and commitment.

How to Apply

Applications are now open and will be accepted through Friday, August 29.

  • Cost: $75 one-time fee to cover banner production
  • Eligibility: Honorees must be current or former members of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard), honorably discharged, or have died in service.
  • Residency Requirement: Honoree must be a current or former Temple resident, or have an immediate family member living in Temple.
  • Returning Banners: If you’ve previously purchased a banner, you can return it to be displayed again at no cost this year.

A Community Tribute

Temple residents are encouraged to take part in this meaningful program and help line the streets with the faces of local heroes. It’s a powerful way to show gratitude and preserve the legacy of service within the community.
