The Eldercare Locator: Connecting Seniors to Support, One Call at a Time

In a world where aging can bring both wisdom and complexity, having a trusted guide makes all the difference. Since its launch in 1991, the Eldercare Locator has served as that guide—a national lifeline connecting older Americans and their families to critical local resources that support independence, safety, and well-being.
Funded by the U.S. Administration on Aging and administered by USAging, the Eldercare Locator is the only national information and referral service dedicated to older adults. Whether you’re seeking transportation options, housing assistance, benefits eligibility, or home and community-based services, the Locator is designed to help.
- 📞 National Call Center: (800) 677-1116 Open Monday–Friday, 8am to 9pm ET
- 🌐 Website: eldercare.acl.gov
Each year, the Locator fields approximately 400,000 requests for assistance. Certified Information Specialists guide callers to the right support—often referring them to one of the 617 Area Agencies on Aging or the 270+ Title VI Native American Aging Programs that serve communities nationwide.
Beyond connecting people to services, the Eldercare Locator plays a vital role in raising awareness about the challenges older adults face. Through its annual Home for the Holidays campaign, the Locator tackles high-impact topics such as:
- Combating isolation and loneliness
- Transitioning to life without driving
- Strengthening brain health
- Preventing fraud and financial scams
These campaigns include brochures, outreach toolkits, and media resources that empower local organizations to spread the word and spark community conversations. To access these materials, visit the Home for the Holidays campaign page.
