June 17, 2025 — AUSTIN, Texas — In honor of Juneteenth, the City of Austin will close its administrative offices and several municipal facilities on Thursday, June 19, joining communities nationwide in commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

While regular business hours will resume Friday, June 20, essential services will remain in operation to ensure residents have continued access to utility payments, waste collection, and outdoor amenities.

Residents can still pay utility bills via coautilities.com or by calling 1-833-375-4949. In-person payments are also accepted at participating H-E-B, Fiesta Mart, Randall’s, and Walmart locations.

Austin Resource Recovery will maintain its normal curbside collection schedule, and residents can confirm pickup times using the Austin Recycles app or at austintexas.gov/myschedule. While the Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center will be closed for the holiday, the Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for yard trimming and brush drop-off.

Outdoor enthusiasts can still enjoy the city’s vibrant green spaces. Parks, golf courses, cemeteries, pools, and splash pads will remain open, though hours vary. The City encourages visitors to check the Parks and Recreation and Park Closures pages for the most up-to-date information.

For residents needing assistance during the holiday:

Library enthusiasts can continue exploring resources digitally through the Austin Public Library website.

As the city reflects on the legacy of Juneteenth, residents are encouraged to take part in community events and use the day to honor history, celebrate freedom, and support one another.
