Austin is preparing to commemorate Juneteenth with a vibrant celebration honoring freedom, culture, and community. On Thursday, June 19, 2025, the city will host the 27th Annual Juneteenth Parade and Rosewood Park Festival, bringing together residents, performers, and community leaders for a day of reflection and joy.

The event is made possible through a partnership between Central Texas Juneteenth, the Greater East Austin Youth Association (GEAYA), and the City of Austin. Organizers are eager to welcome thousands of attendees to this historic gathering, which has long been a cornerstone of local Juneteenth celebrations.

The festivities begin at 10 a.m. with a parade launching from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Salina Street. Marchers will proceed down Chicon Street before making their way to Rosewood Avenue, concluding at Rosewood Park around noon. The parade route spans approximately a mile, and participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring water to stay hydrated.

Spectators can look forward to decorated floats, dance teams, community groups, and marching bands, all contributing to the dynamic energy of the event.

Following the parade, Rosewood Park and Boggy Creek Park will transform into a lively festival ground featuring:

  • Food vendors offering classic Southern and local dishes
  • Information booths showcasing community initiatives
  • Market vendors with handcrafted goods and artwork
  • Children’s entertainment and family-friendly activities
  • Live music, including a special performance by acclaimed Southern soul artist Young Guy
  • Fireworks at 9 p.m., closing the celebration with a dazzling display

Since 2003, GEAYA and the City of Austin have collaborated to make this event a lasting tradition, ensuring that Juneteenth remains a meaningful and joyous occasion for all.

The Juneteenth Parade and Festival are free to attend, making it accessible for all members of the community.
