New York, NY—Dog lovers and sports fans alike are in for an exciting showdown as the American Kennel Club (AKC) Diving Dogs Premier Cup Presented by Cosequin returns to television, set to air on ESPN2 on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET.

Held on April 5, 2025, at Mississippi State University, this year’s competition brought together top canine athletes from across the country, each showcasing their extraordinary skills. The event, hosted in collaboration with North America Diving Dogs, featured three Distance divisions—Lap, Elite, and Premier—as well as two Air Retrieve divisions—Open and Lap. The top three finishers in each category secured prize money and national recognition for their impressive performances.

“We’re thrilled for the AKC Diving Dogs Premier Cup to return to ESPN,” said Gina M. DiNardo, AKC President and CEO. “The excitement and energy that the dogs give off is palpable, and we’re sure that viewers at home will be on the edge of their seats cheering for their favorite competitors.”

The event, which celebrates the bond between dogs and their owners, was especially meaningful to Dr. Todd Henderson, DVM, President and CEO of Nutramax Laboratories Veterinary Sciences, Inc., who expressed his enthusiasm: “I am honored that the American Kennel Club’s Diving Dogs Premier Cup, presented by Cosequin®, was hosted on the campus of my alma mater, Mississippi State University.”

Fans tuning into the broadcast will enjoy expert commentary and coverage from Carolyn Manno, with sideline reporting by Phil Murphy, in-depth analysis by Jason Rigler, and even a special appearance by MSU’s beloved mascot, Bully the Bulldog.
