Austin Parks and Recreation Department Prepares for 2025 Swim Season

The Aquatic Division of the Austin Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for an exciting 2025 swim season. As they prepare, they are focusing on hiring and training lifeguards, announcing the annual maintenance closure of Barton Springs Pool, and making season passes available for purchase.

The Aquatic Division is actively hiring hundreds of lifeguards with a starting pay of $21.63 per hour. Training opportunities are plentiful, especially during spring break from March 16-22. All new and returning lifeguards must complete job applications and hiring paperwork before registering for training. Lifeguards must be at least 15 years old, and individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. For more information, visit LifeguardAustin.com.

Barton Springs Pool will undergo routine annual maintenance from Saturday, March 1, through Friday, March 14. During this period, patrons are encouraged to visit other year-round pools across the city.

Season passes for the 2025 swim season are available starting Monday, February 10. Pools will start charging entry fees on Saturday, March 8. Season passes are valid through October 31, 2025, and include parking at Zilker Park. A season pass is the easiest way to enjoy Austin’s favorite swimming pools all season long!
