Stephenville – Homes For Our Troops (HFOT), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing specially adapted custom homes for severely injured veterans, is calling on the community to come together for a Volunteer Day event on Saturday, February 1, 2025. The event aims to landscape the future home of Army Specialist Kyle Beddow, who sustained severe injuries during his deployment in Afghanistan.
Taking place at 805 Hill Valley Estates, Stephenville, TX 76401, the event will begin at 10 a.m., with check-in starting at 9:30 a.m. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in landscaping activities, including laying sod and planting trees and flowers, to prepare the home for SPC Beddow’s upcoming homecoming.
SPC Beddow’s new home is designed with over 40 adaptations to accommodate his needs, such as lower countertops and roll-under sinks, ensuring he can live comfortably and independently. SPC Beddow, who lost his left leg in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast on May 20, 2012, while serving with the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Afghanistan, will soon receive his home at a Key Ceremony event.
HFOT relies on the generosity of donors, supporters, and corporate partners to build homes for injured veterans. Currently, there are 67 HFOT home-built projects in various stages of completion across the nation. Community members interested in supporting these efforts can hold fundraisers or make donations to HFOT. For more information on how to get involved or to donate, visit http://www.hfotusa.org.

Volunteers are asked to bring gardening gloves, and they will receive an HFOT T-Shirt and lunch as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) is a publicly funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide to severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, enabling them to rebuild their lives. Most of these Veterans have sustained life-altering injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives. Since its inception in 2004, nearly 90 cents of every dollar spent has gone directly to our program services supporting Veterans. For more information, visit www.hfotusa.org.
Join us in making a difference and show our heroes the support and gratitude they deserve. Together, we can ensure that SPC Beddow and other veterans can rejoin their lives with dignity and independence. And from the looks of things, the weather will be cooperating today!
