The City of Austin’s Economic Development Department is proud to support the 12th Annual Youth Career Fest, an empowering career exploration event hosted by the Austin Youth Council. This event is dedicated to helping Austin-area high school students discover diverse career opportunities and chart their educational and professional pathways.
“Youth Career Fest demonstrates the importance of equipping our future workforce with the knowledge and connections they need to succeed,” said Anthony Segura, Interim Director of the Economic Development Department. “We are proud to support the next generation of innovators and changemakers to help them discover their passions, connect with mentors, and envision their futures.”
Founded by the Austin Youth Council in 2013, Youth Career Fest was established to provide high school students with the tools and resources needed to make informed decisions about their futures, whether entering the workforce or pursuing higher education. The Austin Youth Council, a dedicated group of high school students representing youth voices in local government, designed this event to bridge the gap between students and career opportunities. This year’s event will feature organizations such as St. David’s HealthCare, Texas Workforce Solutions, Samsung, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, various State of Texas and City departments, and more. Universities from across the state and beyond, including The University of Texas at Austin, Texas State University, the University of Alabama, and Texas A&M University, will also be in attendance. Over 50 schools from Austin ISD and surrounding districts, such as Leander ISD, Round Rock ISD, and Hays CISD, are registered, with 3,500+ students (grades 8-12) expected to attend.
