KILLEEN – In observance of the Christmas holiday, the City of Killeen has announced that various municipal offices and services will be closed on Tuesday, December 24th, and Wednesday, December 25th.
Municipal Closures:
- City Hall: Closed starting at Noon on December 24 and all day on December 25. Normal business hours will resume on Thursday, December 26.
- Recreation Center: Closed starting at Noon on December 24 and all day on December 25. Normal business hours will resume on Thursday, December 26.
- Library: Closed starting at 1 PM on December 24 and all day on December 25. Normal business hours will resume on Thursday, December 26.
- Activities Center: Closed starting at Noon on December 24 and all day on December 25. Normal business hours will resume on Thursday, December 26.
- Police Department (Administration & Records Division): Closed starting at Noon on December 24 and all day on December 25. Normal business hours will resume on Thursday, December 26.
- Fire Department (Administration): Closed starting at Noon on December 24 and all day on December 25. Normal business hours will resume on Thursday, December 26.
- Pet Adoption Center: Closed on December 24 and December 25. Normal business hours will resume on Thursday, December 26.
- Recycling Drop Center: Closed starting at Noon on December 24 and all day on December 25. Normal business hours will resume on Thursday, December 26.
Trash Collection and Recycling:
- Trash Collection: Services will remain unaltered during the Christmas holiday.
- Recycling Center: Closed on December 24 and December 25. Recycling trailers will be available at the rodeo grounds located at 3601 South WS Young Drive.
- Bulk Collection Pick Up: The city will offer bulk collection from Thursday, December 26 to Tuesday, December 31. This service includes free pick up of Christmas-related waste. Residents should place garbage in plastic bags no larger than 33 gallons, or boxes no larger than eight cubic feet, at the curbside at least four feet away from the roll-out container by 7 AM on their collection day. This collection does not include bulky items such as furniture, tires, construction waste, or appliances, for which a fee will be assessed.
Emergency services will continue to operate without interruption during the holiday period.
The annual Christmas tree recycling event will be held on January 4, 2025, at the Killeen Special Events Center located at 3301 S WS Young Drive, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. All ornaments, lights, tinsel, and other decorations must be removed prior to dropping off trees. There is no charge for tree recycling.
City offices will resume normal business hours on Thursday, December 26.
