COPPERAS COVE – The City of Copperas Cove is hosting groundbreaking ceremony for the new Senior Center on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 10 a.m. The event will take place at the new site located at 2402 Walker Place Blvd, and the community is invited to join this historic celebration. On-site parking will be available.

The City Council directed the sale of the current Senior Center at 1012 North Drive to fund the construction of a new facility. The process began in December 2022, when the City Council contracted a local realtor to market and sell the existing property. By May 2023, the property was sold for $588,000.
In February 2023, the City Council entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Hill Country Community Action Association (HCCAA) to manage the Senior Center. By July 2023, a Professional Services Agreement with Elements of Architecture, Inc. was executed for site selection, design, planning, and construction oversight.
In June 2024, the City Council purchased the new site at 2402 Walker Place Blvd for $385,000. The project is part of the City’s 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Plan, with a budget of up to $1.7 million. The new Senior Center is expected to be completed by late Fall 2025.
