City of Killeen Hosts Ultimate Baked Potato Fundraiser for United Way
KILLEEN, Texas – The City of Killeen is excited to announce an Ultimate Baked Potato lunch fundraiser to support the United Way of the Greater Tri-County Area’s 2024 campaign. This delicious event will take place on Friday, November 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the City Hall foyer, with a convenient drive-thru option available at the south parking lot behind the foyer.
For just $5, residents can enjoy a fluffy baked potato topped with butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon, and sides of salt and pepper, accompanied by a refreshing lemonade. For those with a heartier appetite, the option to add brisket and a cookie is available for a total of $10. Importantly, 100% of the proceeds will benefit the local United Way chapter, ensuring that every dollar spent goes directly to supporting community programs.
The City of Killeen has a long-standing partnership with United Way, spanning 23 years. Over the past three years alone, city employees have raised more than $200,000 through various public and internal fundraisers. This consistent support has earned the City a platinum pacesetter status, highlighting its commitment to community service and philanthropy.
United Way of the Greater Tri-County Area has been a cornerstone in addressing health and human service needs in the Fort Cavazos area for decades. The organization has successfully raised millions of dollars, supporting 21 programs through its member agencies, and continues to make a significant impact on the community.
This year’s baked potato fundraiser is part of a series of events hosted by city employees, with sponsorship from local businesses such as Walmart’s Stan Schlueter Loop location. The City of Killeen invites everyone to participate in this tasty and charitable event, contributing to a cause that benefits so many in the community.
