The Voice of Texas Veterans with Julia Conner is a production of the Texas Veterans Commission. A new episode airs every Sunday afternoon at 3:30pm and airs again on Tuesday evenings at 6:15pm.
The Texas Veterans Commission was created in 1927 as the State Service Office to assist veterans of the Indian wars, Spanish-American War and World War I. Their purpose has always been to act as the state appointed advocate of Texas veterans as they attempt to secure the benefits rightfully earned in exchange for their service in our nation’s armed forces.
This episode highlights the many services they provide, including:
- Assisting Veterans and their Families with Disability Benefits and Rights
- Connecting Texas Veterans to Higher Education and Technical Training Opportunities
- Offering Employment Services to Texas Veterans and Helping Employers Find Qualified Veteran Job Applicants
- Helping Veteran Entrepreneurs Launch and Grow Their Business
- Providing Assistance for Texas Veterans to Address VA Health Care Issues
- Connecting Women Veterans to Local, State, and Federal Resources
- Coordinating Funding to Support Veterans and their Families Across Texas
- Ensuring Access to Competent Mental Health Services for Service Members, Veterans, and their Families
We also hear compelling stories and testimony from two TVC-Certified Peer Service Coordinators. If you reside in this area, here are their names and contact information. There is also an easy to use map that can help you locate your own representative.
