The Harker Heights Recreation Center, located at 307 Miller’s Crossing, would like to remind active seniors, age 50 plus, that they are invited to play a variety of recreational activities and games. Each month a new activity to keep you moving and having fun will be introduced. July’s activities have been volleyball and badminton.

The Bell County Museum, located at 201 North Main Street in Belton, will be hosting a lecture on Thursday, August 8th from 7pm to 8:30pm. Brad Livingstone, the First Gentleman of Baylor University, will give a lecture on the Vietnam War and a long overdue thank you to all the Veterans who served our country faithfully and honorably. The lecture is one in a series held in conjunction with the Vietnam Experience exhibit, open right now through February 2025 at the museum. The event and admission to the museum are free. The Copperas Cove Senior Center is located at 1012 North Drive, Suite 5, and is managed by the Hill Country Community Action Association. Their website is HCCAA.com and they are out of San Saba. Their senior services include outreach, counseling, information and referral, arts and crafts, recreation, physical fitness, instruction and training, and other special emphasis services and activities. AGE of Central Texas helps older adults and their caregivers thrive as they navigate the realities and opportunities of aging and caregiving. Their main office is located at 3710 Cedar Street in Austin and you can contact them by calling (512) 451-4611 or going online to ageofcentraltx.org.
They offer things like free durable medial equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, and shower chairs, as well as incontinence supplies available for pickup at their facilities. They offer caregiver information, resources and even host educational events.
Salado has a couple of events taking place today.
Barrow Brewing Company, located at 108 Royal Street, is hosting a farmers market. It is open now until 1pm.
Tablerock’s Salado Legends begins today. This is their 31st performance and there will be a show today, July 27th and August 3rd at the Tablerock Amphitheater. Gates open at 7:30pm and the show begins at 8:15pm. Tickets can be purchased online at centraltexastickets.com or at the gate. The Area Agency on Aging of Central Texas offers free health and wellness programs for seniors within Central Texas. They serve individuals 60 years of age and older and their families in Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Milam, Mills and San Saba counties. The Sul Ross Boot Scootin’ Dance Club’s next open dance will be July 25th from 7pm to 9:15pm and features the Branded Heart Band. The next Seniors Living Smarter seminar, Freedom Starts with Letting Go, will be held on August 8th.
