Here are the programs in our StarDate orbit this month!
August 28th-September 3rd: Lunar Blues
There’s a full Moon this week — a Blue Moon — and we’ll have details on what that means. We’ll also talk about a galaxy with big “jets,” the confusing name of a month, and much more.
September 4th-10th: Eavesdropping Neighbors
A recent study wondered whether any nearby civilizations might be able to hear Earth’s radio noise, and we’ll let you know the results. Please join us for this, plus a pair of doomed stars, naming exoplanets, and much more.
September 11th-17th: One Month to Go
An annular solar eclipse will grace American skies a month from now, and we’ll have details. We’ll also talk about “wavy” galaxies, living on the Moon, and danger from above.
September 18th-24th: Pieces of Other Worlds
A spacecraft is set to drop off some pieces of an asteroid late this week, and we’ll have details. We’ll also talk about samples of another asteroid, and efforts to bring back new samples of the Moon.
September 25th-October 1st: On Alert
Some telescopes can send out alerts when they detect exploding stars or other powerful and unusual events. The alerts trigger follow-up looks by other telescopes. Please join us for telescopes on alert and more.
