Real estate markets have been pretty volatile in recent years. And that’s true even beyond Earth. Astronomers have been trying to figure out whether it’s possible for anything to live on planets orbiting red-dwarf stars. That’s important to know because red dwarfs are by far the most common stars in the galaxy. So if such star systems can support life, they could increase the Milky Way’s habitable real estate by a factor of 10.
In 1909, Dr. Bashford Dean (seated) of the American Museum of Natural History created this restoration to illustrate the enormous size of the jaw of a fossil megalodon from the lower Miocene (20–23 million years ago) of South Carolina. He estimated the shark that the teeth came from was about 60 feet (18 meters) in length.
When neighborhoods start to go downhill, people move away. And today, that’s happening in marine neighborhoods. As the oceans get warmer—a result of our changing climate—fish and other critters are moving out of their neighborhoods and into cooler waters. That includes the tiniest organisms, known as plankton. And a recent study says the trend could accelerate in the decades ahead.
Mel Blanc brought to life some of the most popular characters in animation history. It might be bad radio to recite the list, but, we’re going to do it anyway…it’s that impressive. There was Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Pepé Le Pew, Speedy Gonzales, the Tasmanian Devil, Barney Rubble, Mr. Spacely…And, talk about a house divided…he also voiced both Sylvester and Tweety Bird, heard here in…ahem…“I Tawt I Taw A Puddy Tat”from 1951.
