May 2023
Here are the programs launching this month!

May 1st-7th: Busy Stars
The Sun was supposed to be quiet over the next few years, but it’s not shaping up that way, and we’ll have details. We’ll also talk about a monster stellar embryo, a small star with a giant planet, and more.
May 8th-14th: Nicer Astronomy
A telescope on the International Space Station called NICER is probing neutron stars, black holes, and more, and we’ll have details. We’ll also talk about a ground-based telescope that’s going back to work, and more.
May 15th-21st: Bright Nights
City skies are aglow with the light from streetlights, billboards, and other sources, and the problem is only getting worse. Please join us for the vanishing night sky, plus a galactic jellyfish, dusty Mars, and more.
May 22nd-28th: Moon Meanderings
The Moon teams up with some prominent companions this week, including Mars and the twins of Gemini, and we’ll have details. Please join us for the Moon’s encounters, plus a fixer-upper in space and more.
May 29th-June 4th: Moving Mars
Mars is on the move this week — but slowly. It’s farthest from the Sun for the year, so it moves at its slowest. And it will slide over the top of a “hive” of angry bees. I’m Billy Henry. Please join me for all the details on Mars, plus much more.
