Updates on closures and events affected by today’s inclement weather.

Central Texas College

  • Central and Ft. Hood campuses will be closed Thursday, February 24th , due to inclement weather.  A decision has been made in advance to allow students and employees time to prepare for the forecasted winter storm.
  • There will be no in-person classroom instruction on Thursday and students are asked to contact their faculty about alternate delivery modes. All online and SVL classes will be held as scheduled.
  • Tonight’s Author Night at the Hobby Memorial Library is cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date in spring.

Killeen

  • The City of Killeen offices remain on a two-hour delay, opening at 10 a.m. due to inclement weather.
  • North WS Young bridge is closed, due to weather conditions. Crews are treating elevated roadways and bridges, which are icy and slick. There are also a few low spots that require treatment. Emergency officials ask citizens to avoid the roads until temperatures are above freezing, if possible. Those who must travel are asked to use caution and give themselves extra time to get to their destination.
  • As a reminder, trash collection services are on a two-hour delay today. All routes will run this week, but some may experience delays.
  • Hours for our Recreation Services Department are:
    • Lions Club Park Senior Center
      • Thursday, February 24
      • 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
      • Any programming that is regularly scheduled before 10am will be canceled.
    • Family Recreation Center
      • Thursday, February 24
      • 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
  • The Daddy/Daughter Dance is still scheduled for tomorrow, February 25th from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center. Tickets are limited and on sale now. Tickets are $50 per father-daughter couple and $20 per additional child and may be purchased at the Family Recreation Center or online at KilleenTexas.gov/REC.
  • The City of Killeen is opening a Warming Center tonight (February 24th) and Friday (February 25th) night from 6 p.m. – 9 a.m. the following mornings at the Moss Rose Center (1103 East Avenue E).
    • Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
    • If no one is using the service by 11:30 p.m., the warming center will close.

Freedom Lane in Copperas Cove is closed due to ice.

In Belton, Bell County offices will not open until 11 a.m. and all early voting locations in the county will delay opening to the public until noon to allow election workers time to prepare the sites. Voting locations will close at 7 p.m. tomorrow.

In Waco, non-essential services will have a two-hour delayed start and open at 10 a.m.
