10:30am: EarthDate – Earthquake Early Warning
EarthDate is a public service radio program with a mission to engage listeners in earth science and reconnect them to the wonders of their world. Conceived and hosted by Dr. Scott W. Tinker, Director of the Bureau of Economic Geology at The University of Texas at Austin; written and directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Harry Lynch; and researched by Juli Hennings, a career geoscientist, EarthDate tells captivating stories to remind listeners that science can enlighten, educate and entertain.
11:30am: Science and the Sea – Red Tides
Science and the Sea radio program presents marine science topics in an engaging two-minute story format. Script writers gather ideas for the radio program from the University of Texas Marine Science Institute’s researchers and from our very popular college class, Introduction to Oceanography, which we teach to hundreds of non-science majors at The University of Texas at Austin every year.
8pm: Sock Hop Saturday Night with Bruce Vasbinder
Take off your shoes and twist again like you did last summer as Bruce Vasbinder plays the hits of yesteryear from his never-ending stax of record wax.
12pm: The Wax Museum
Weekly two hour rock and roll radio program. New Music, Deep rock album tracks, artist interviews and the stories behind the music.
2pm: Rockin’ in the Days of Confusion
Rockin’ in the Days of Confusion is a weekly 60-minute show that revisits the golden age of rock radio (roughly the years 1968-76). Emphasis is on longer album tracks from a variety of then-emerging rock sub-genres, including hard rock, heavy metal, country-rock, jazz-rock fusion, folk-rock, art-rock and more experimental tracks that defy easy classification. As is the case with our companion show, Stuck in the Psychedelic Era, Rockin’ in the Days of Confusion has no pre-recorded jingles or liners. The Hermit’s commentary is kept to a minimum, with more detailed track information available at thehermitrambles.blogspot.com.
3pm: Audio Aftermath
Relive the music of “Underground FM” from the mid-60s to the mid-70s! Prog rock, psychedelia, folk rock, blues, English blues, Canterbury scene, southern rock, folk, all arranged in thematic sets with historical narrative. And it’s all played from original vinyl LPs and singles. Two hour-long programs each week, hosted by Dan Wardlow.

There he produces a best-selling guidebook series, a popular public television show, a weekly public radio show, a syndicated travel column, and free travel information available through his travel center and ricksteves.com. Rick Steves’ Europe also runs a successful small-group tour program taking 30,000 travelers to Europe annually.
