Entertainment News
- CBS RENEWS NCIS FOR SEASON 19 _ CBS has renewed NCIS for Season 19, but with Mark Harmon appearing in potentially fewer episodes. Harmon, who originated his special agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs role on JAG in 2003, had been in talks to only appear in a handful of episodes if CBS renewed the procedural for a 19th season. Harmon and CBS have now struck a deal to keep NCIS alive. But what remains unclear is whether Harmon will be back on NCIS full time, according to The Hollywood Reporter… CBS has also renewed Magnum P.I., Bull, Blue Bloods and S.W.A.T.
- HOME ALONE REBOOT CLOSE TO COMPLETION _ Disney+’s reboot of Home Alone has been in the cards for a while now, and will be more of a reimagining of the scenario than a straight update of the familiar story. A stoner version with Ryan Reynolds is also apparently planned, but the Disney+ remake looks to be closer to release. After filming in Canada — which included a set shutdown due to a COVID-19 outbreak — production on the Home Alone reboot is nearly complete.
- ADAM SANDLER’S NEW NETFLIX MOVIE HAS ADDED AN OSCAR NOMINEE _ As we wait and see whether she’ll land the Best Actress trophy for her role in Promising Young Woman at this month’s Oscars, Carey Mulligan has just found her next project. According to Deadline the British star has joined Adam Sandler in his latest movie for Netflix, The Spaceman. This isn’t one of the funnyman’s comedies, though, but is instead a high-concept sci-fi drama… Based on the novel Spaceman of Bohemia (by Jaroslav Kalfar), the movie “follows an astronaut (Sandler) sent to the edge of the galaxy to collect mysterious space dust. He soon finds that his early life is falling to pieces, and he turns to the only voice who can help him try to put it back together. It just so happens to belong to a creature from the beginning of time, lurking in the shadows of the ship.” Mulligan will play the wife of Sandler’s astronaut character.
- AQUAMAN 2 CAST MIGHT ADD GAME OF THRONES ACTOR PILOU ASBAEK _ Pilou Asbaek, who played horny pirate Euron Greyjoy on Game of Thrones, is setting his sights on more aquatic adventure with Aquaman 2. The actor is in talks to join the cast of the film, which will bring back Jason Momoa as the lead. As is usually the case with this sort of casting news, we have no idea who Asbaek is playing just yet. But the fact that his casting is being talked about at all suggests that pre-production work on Aquaman 2 is starting to pick up.
- MADS MIKKELSEN ADDED TO INDIANA JONES 5 _ Mads Mikkelsen is stepping into another blockbuster role after signing on to join Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Indiana Jones 5. The star of Rogue One and Another Round, who last year replaced Johnny Depp as Fantastic Beasts villain Gellert Grindelwald, has been added to the cast of Indiana Jones 5. Mikkelsen also played a bad guy in the James Bond film Casino Royale… Producers hope the film will start shooting this summer. The film is set to hit theaters in July, 2022.
- SHARON OSBOURNE WILL BREAK HER SILENCE _ Sharon Osbourne will have her first extended television interview since she left The Talk last month. Osbourne will share her side of the scandal on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher tonight (April 16)… Osbourne’s downfall began when she defended Piers Morgan’s freedom of speech after he doubted claims made by Meghan Markle during her and Prince Harry’s CBS tell-all with Oprah Winfrey. After Sheryl Underwood questioned how Osbourne could defend someone who “uttered” something “racist,” Osbourne had a melt down on-air followed by another after the episode — during which she accused CBS of blindsiding her with the Morgan segment… Shortly after the heated discussion, CBS launched an internal investigation into The Talk episode, putting the show on hiatus. As the scandal continued to worsen, racist allegations were made against the 68-year-old. On March 26, CBS announced that Osbourne “decided” to leave The Talk, which is the same claim Underwood made on the returning episode of the talk show on Monday, April 12.
- BORAT SUPPLEMENTAL REPORTINGS _ Amazon is ramping up its Oscar campaign for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (nominated for two Oscars!) with the release of Borat Supplemental Recordings, a multi-part special featuring new, unreleased footage from the comedy sequel. Specifically it’s called Borat Supplemental Reportings Retrieved From Floor Of Stable Containing Editing Machine. • VIDEO… The footage features extended sequences of Borat in his lockdown house, more scenes of Tutar in her journey toward Rudy Giuilani, and one rather frightening scene which featured one of the rare occasions where Baron Cohen broke character. The scene in question took place after Borat crashed the alt-right rally, and the hordes of angry protestors stormed the van he fled in, with a suddenly-serious Baron Cohen holding the door shut as his natural British accent comes out. “Just keep going,” he tells his van driver, “because if you stop, you’re going to be in a violent situation”… No release date has yet been set for Borat Supplemental Recordings, but you can expect it to debut soon on Amazon Prime Video.
- BRAD PITT LEAVES MEDICAL CENTER IN A WHEELCHAIR _ Brad Pitt was photographed exiting a Beverly Hills medical center in a wheelchair Wednesday after having his wisdom teeth removed. Pitt was clad in a black hoodie and gray jeans and was wheeled out by a bodyguard. Pitt sported an oversize pair of sunglasses over his mask.
