Most City of Austin administrative offices and municipal facilities will close on Monday, Feb. 16, in observance of Presidents Day. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, Feb. 17, but several essential services will continue operating throughout the holiday.

City Services Operating as Usual

Austin Utilities Payments – Residents can continue to make utility payments online at coautilities.com, by phone at 1‑833‑375‑4949, or in person at participating H‑E‑B, CVS, Randall’s, and Walmart locations.

Austin Resource Recovery – Curbside trash, recycling, composting, and other collections will run on their normal schedule. Customers can check pickup days anytime through the Austin Recycles app or at austintexas.gov/myschedule. The Recycle and Reuse Drop‑off Center will be closed for the holiday, but Austin Water’s Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant will remain open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for yard trimmings and large brush drop‑off.

Parks and Recreation – City parks, golf courses, tennis centers, year‑round pools, and cemeteries will be open. However, Parks and Recreation offices, along with Recreation Centers and Senior Centers, will be closed. Hours vary by location, so residents are encouraged to check the Parks and Recreation and Park Closures pages for the latest updates.

Where to Turn for Help on Presidents Day

Even with many offices closed, the City is reminding residents that several public resources remain available:

  • Power outages: Report online at outagemap.austinenergy.com or call 512‑322‑9100.
  • Non‑emergency issues: Call 3‑1‑1, use the Austin 3‑1‑1 mobile app, or submit a request online.
  • Water or wastewater emergencies: Call 512‑972‑1000.
  • Library services: Digital resources remain available through the Austin Public Library website.
