The City of Killeen, in partnership with Friends in Crisis, will open a warming center this weekend as temperatures are expected to fall across the region.
Friends in Crisis, located at 412 E. Sprott St., will be available to anyone in the community who needs a safe, warm place to stay, including individuals without heat or those experiencing power outages. The warming center will operate during the following hours:
- Friday, Jan. 16, from 3 p.m. to Saturday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m.
- Saturday, Jan. 17, from 3 p.m. to Sunday, Jan. 18, at 8 a.m.
Under city policy, warming centers are activated when temperatures or wind chill values are forecast to reach 32 degrees or below.
