The U.S. Navy will visit KISD Early College High School in Killeen today to present its “Strike Group” mobile mixed‑reality experience, an interactive exhibit designed to introduce students to the range of STEM‑focused careers available in the Navy. The visit also supports the Navy’s effort to recruit top students for technical fields and promote its $180,000 ROTC scholarship opportunity.

The “Strike Group” uses advanced mixed‑reality technology to give students a hands‑on look at the skills, teamwork, and problem‑solving involved in Navy operations. Rear Admiral James P. Waters, Commander of Navy Recruiting Command, said the experience highlights the technological sophistication of the Navy and the opportunities available to those pursuing STEM pathways.

The exhibit features three interactive components:

All Hands

Students work together in a five‑person mixed‑reality simulation set on the flight deck of the USS Gerald R. Ford. Using Meta Quest 3 headsets, participants take on roles such as fueling aircraft, flying helicopters, or piloting an F‑35C Lightning II, demonstrating how coordinated tasks support a mission.

Dive

This scenario places students in the role of a Navy diver. Participants navigate to a storm‑damaged pier and use virtual welding and repair skills to complete an underwater construction mission.

Achieve

To help students explore potential career paths, this station offers a personality‑based quiz that matches participants with Navy roles across fields such as engineering, aviation, and special operations. Students also receive an AI‑generated image of themselves in their recommended career.

The Navy’s visit aims to give students a realistic look at modern military technology and the wide range of STEM careers available within the service.
