The City of Copperas Cove Parks and Recreation Department is inviting community members to take part in the 2026 Polar Bear 5K and Plunge on Saturday, January 17, 2026. The chip‑timed 5K, part of the Cen‑Tex Race Series sponsored by the Carlson Law Firm, will begin at 9:00 a.m. near the City Park Pool at 1206 W Avenue B. Participants may find full event details and complete pre‑registration online.
Registration is $25 plus a SignUp fee through January 6, increasing to $35 plus fees through January 15. On‑site registration will be available on race day for $35 beginning at 7:00 a.m. Early packet pickup is scheduled for January 15 and 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Copperas Cove Civic Center. The first 200 participants to pick up their packets will receive a guaranteed bag, and shirts are guaranteed for those registered by January 2.
Following the race, the public is invited to a free Polar Bear Plunge at the City Park Pool, along with a Belly Flop Contest and Treading Water Contest starting at 11:00 a.m. Participants in plunge activities must be at least 10 years old, and parents must sign waivers for those ages 10–17. Pre‑registration for the plunge will open at 10:00 a.m. at the pool. Event organizers note that parking at the City Park Pool will not be available until the 5K has concluded.
