S.C. Lee Jr. High School has been recognized by the Caleb Cares Foundation, led by Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, for its work in promoting mental health awareness and empowering students to support one another.
The recognition came after the campus hosted a schoolwide parade celebrating kindness, inclusion, and respect. The event was part of “Paint the School Orange Week,” an annual Copperas Cove ISD initiative encouraging students to stand up to bullying. S.C. Lee’s parade carried a New Orleans theme, with the message: “The good times roll when everyone belongs.”
Campus counselor Kianna Childers said the recognition reflects the school’s commitment to creating a welcoming environment: “Our campus hosted a schoolwide parade celebrating kindness, inclusion and respect to support this initiative. When I read about this giveaway and recognition, I knew our campus was the perfect example.”
Principal Marshall Chauvin praised the effort, noting the teamwork behind the event: “Our students and staff poured their hearts into creating an event that truly embodied kindness, inclusion, and unity. This recognition from the Caleb Cares Foundation is a reflection of the positive culture we’re building together—one where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to make a difference.”
As part of the recognition, Williams awarded the campus a Chicago Bears jacket with his number for display. Childers said the jacket symbolizes the school’s commitment to caring and standing together as a campus family.
The Caleb Cares Foundation, founded by Williams, focuses on bullying prevention and mental health awareness. The organization continues work Williams began in high school, highlighted in his 2022 Heisman Trophy acceptance speech.
