Austin Animal Services, in partnership with Greater Good Charities, is hosting a free, high-volume spay/neuter clinic for cats and dogs from November 13–17, in North Austin.

In addition to surgery, pets will receive vaccinations, microchips, and flea/tick prevention to help ensure they return home healthy and protected.

The initiative provides Austin and Travis County pet owners with access to essential care while helping prevent animal overpopulation and reduce the number of stray and homeless pets. Organizers note that these services also promote safer neighborhoods by decreasing roaming behavior and unplanned litters.

“As Austin’s municipal shelter, we’re committed to making sure every pet owner—no matter their income or neighborhood—has access to the services that keep pets healthy and communities safe,” said Rolando Fernandez, Interim Director of Animal Services. “By providing free, high-quality spay and neuter care, we’re supporting responsible pet ownership and helping reduce the number of animals entering shelters across Austin and Travis County.”

This is the sixth free clinic in the past year, with another planned for early 2026. The previous five clinics provided surgeries to more than 5,000 pets, and this event aims to serve an additional 1,200 animals.

Spay and neuter procedures typically cost between $75 and several hundred dollars, with long wait times for appointments. This free clinic removes those barriers, offering same-day procedures at no cost to residents of Austin and Travis County.
