Above-normal temperatures and dry skies will dominate much of the country through the end of the workweek. Highs in the 70s and lower 80s, roughly 10 to 15 degrees above average for this time of year, will stretch across the Central and Southern U.S., keeping conditions warm and pleasant.

🔆 Local Focus: Austin & San Antonio

Today: Sunny and dry, with highs climbing into the upper 70s to mid-80s.

Midweek into Weekend: Expect warmer and more humid conditions as southerly winds strengthen. Temperatures will hold above normal, staying in the 70s and 80s.

Rain Outlook: The next chance of showers won’t arrive until late Sunday into Monday, with only low rain chances expected.

⚠️ Note for Central Texas listeners: The NOAA weather radio transmitter in Austin is currently off the air due to equipment problems. Technicians are working to restore service.

🌎 National Weather Highlights

East: The upper trough that brought strong winds and frigid air is lifting north. Winds will ease, and the polar chill will moderate, though light lake-effect snow will linger across the Lower Great Lakes into Thursday.

Central U.S.: A large upper ridge is building, driving southerly flow and producing widespread warmth. Highs in the 60s and 70s will mark temperature anomalies of +20 to +30 degrees across the Northern and Central Plains by Thursday and Friday.

West Coast: A powerful Pacific storm system is developing offshore. Beginning tonight, heavy rain, mountain snow, and strong winds will impact California and Oregon. Winter storm warnings are in place for the Sierra Nevada, with high wind advisories along the coast. Flash flooding is possible in the Bay Area and as far south as Los Angeles.

📡 KNCT Meteorologist Bill Hecke’s Outlook

“We start Wednesday under clear skies, with morning temperatures mainly in the 40s and a few spots near 50, accompanied by a light southerly breeze. Sunshine dominates through the day, pushing highs into the upper 70s to low 80s. Temperatures climb further Thursday and Friday, reaching the low to mid-90s. By late week, expect increasing clouds and breezier conditions. A passing disturbance could bring a slight chance of showers into the weekend, along with a modest cool-down. While nothing looks especially organized, a few areas may pick up some rain.”
