Host Julia Conner revived a beloved TVC tradition: children sharing in their own words why we celebrate Veterans Day. Their voices remind us that honoring our heroes is a lesson passed from generation to generation.

🍽️ Veterans Day Discounts and Appreciation

Across Texas, restaurants and local vendors are offering special discounts to Veterans as a token of appreciation. Be sure to check with businesses in your area—many are eager to say thank you in tangible ways.

  • Applebee’s: On November 11, Applebee’s is honoring active-duty military, veterans, reservists, and National Guard members with a complimentary full-size entrée from a special Veterans Day menu. Choices include seven popular dishes such as a 6-ounce top sirloin, classic bacon cheeseburger, chicken tenders platter, double crunch shrimp, fiesta lime chicken, oriental chicken salad, and three-cheese chicken penne. Dine-in only.
  • Denny’s: Veterans and active-duty military can enjoy a free Original Grand Slam from 5 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, November 11, with valid military ID or DD214. Visit the Killeen location at 1108 S. Fort Hood St.
  • Bubba’s 33: From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 11, Bubba’s 33 in Killeen (3701 E. Central Texas Expressway) will serve free lunch to active and veteran military members. Rainchecks are available for those unable to attend. Proof of service required.
  • In-N-Out Burger: Veterans and current military personnel can receive a complimentary meal and a special Veterans Day decal on Tuesday, November 11. Killeen location: 2006 E. Central Texas Expressway. Proof of service required.
  • Golden Corral: Golden Corral will host a Military Appreciation Night from 4 p.m. to close on Tuesday, November 11, offering free meals to anyone who has served in the U.S. Military. Killeen location: 1420 E. Central Texas Expressway.
  • Olive Garden: Veterans and active-duty military dining at Olive Garden on November 11 will receive a complimentary entrée from a special menu. Valid military ID required. Killeen location: 2811 E. Central Texas Expressway.
  • Texas Roadhouse: Participating Texas Roadhouse locations will offer Veterans and military members a free meal voucher on November 11, redeemable at a later date.
