Copperas Cove Independent School District will implement a two-hour delayed start for all campuses and departments on Friday, following Thursday night’s Bulldawg Football playoff game in DeSoto.
The decision comes in response to the large number of students, staff, and families expected to attend the game. District officials say the delay is intended to support safe travel home from the event and allow adequate rest before the next school day. Afternoon dismissal times on Friday will remain unchanged.
“This is the first time in seven years our community has had the chance to cheer on the Bulldawgs in the playoffs,” said Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins. “We want to make sure every dawg remains safe in doing so. I look forward to seeing everyone in DeSoto on Thursday, and I invite those interested to join us for Southern Talk Wednesday morning in the Board Room to hear Coach Southern preview the game.”
The district confirmed that the delay will not affect the academic calendar or require adjustments to the school day structure.
The playoff matchup against DeSoto is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Eagle Stadium in south Dallas. Fans can tune in to the live broadcast on Bulldawg Radio via the Mixlr app.
