Our Military Kids, a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting children of deployed and injured service members, has reached a significant milestone: 100,000 activity awards funded since its founding in 2004. These awards, totaling $36 million in support, have helped military children across the country participate in sports, fine and performing arts, camps, STEM enrichment, and other extracurricular activities.
To commemorate the occasion, the organization introduced Gavin, an 8-year-old whose mother is currently deployed with the National Guard. Gavin received the 100,000th activity award, which is helping cover his hockey fees. His award packet included not only financial support, but also personalized items such as a certificate, dog tags, and a patch—symbols of encouragement during a challenging time.
Gavin’s family shared their appreciation in a video message, noting the emotional impact of the award and its importance during a period marked by deployment and government uncertainty.
Over the past two decades, Our Military Kids has supported a wide range of activities—from soccer and art classes to Scouts and computer coding—providing children with opportunities to grow, connect, and thrive despite the disruptions of military life.
The organization credits its donors and partners for making this milestone possible and emphasizes that the need for support continues. With many families still navigating deployments and combat-related medical care, the nonprofit remains committed to funding future activities and reaching even more children in the years ahead.
