Central Texas Theatre at Vive Les Arts Societe is inviting young performers to audition for its upcoming production of Madagascar – A Musical Adventure Jr., based on the popular animated film. Auditions will be held on Saturday, November 9th and Sunday, November 10th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. each evening.

Open to aspiring actors ages 5 to 18, the auditions will include both singing and dancing components. Participants should prepare 30 to 60 seconds of a song in the style of the musical or a Disney tune. Performers may sing with a prerecorded accompaniment, karaoke track, or acapella. Comfortable attire suitable for movement is recommended, as a dance portion will be included.

The musical follows the story of Alex the lion, the star attraction at New York’s Central Park Zoo, and his friends Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe, and Gloria the hippo. When Marty’s curiosity leads him to escape the zoo with help from a group of clever penguins, the group embarks on an unexpected adventure into the wild.

To help auditioners prepare, an optional audition workshop will be offered on Saturday, November 9th, with two sessions available: 9:00–11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. The workshop fee is $10, and attendance is not required to audition.
