As Texas faces mounting challenges related to water scarcity and infrastructure, the League of Women Voters of Texas has announced its formal endorsement of Proposition 4, a proposed constitutional amendment focused on water sustainability and long-term resource management.
This marks the first time in over a decade that the League has taken an official stance on a statewide ballot proposition, highlighting the seriousness of the issue and its potential impact on communities across the state.
“Proposition 4 funds repairs so that water isn’t wasted. It also invests in smarter solutions like water reuse and aquifer storage, saving water underground for when we really need it,” said Joyce LeBombard, President of the League of Women Voters of Texas.
The League emphasizes that access to clean, reliable water is vital to the health, safety, and future of all Texans. Its support for Proposition 4 reflects a broader commitment to strengthening long-term water planning, including:
- Investment in infrastructure repairs
- Support for water reuse and aquifer storage
- Conservation initiatives
- Groundwater protection and development
As voters prepare to weigh in on several constitutional amendments this November, the League encourages informed participation and offers nonpartisan resources to help Texans understand the issues at stake.
