Heart to Heart Hospice of Temple will present “Hospice 101” on Wednesday, October 22nd at 11am at the Salado Public Library, offering an opportunity to learn more about hospice care, eligibility, and common misconceptions surrounding end-of-life support.

The session will cover key topics such as when to consider hospice care, what services are available, and how families can access support during a terminal illness. Hospice care is typically recommended when a physician determines a patient has a life expectancy of six months or less and curative treatments are no longer effective or desired.

Heart to Heart Hospice serves patients across Bell County and surrounding areas, providing individualized care plans for those facing conditions such as cancer, dementia, Alzheimer’s, heart failure, and other life-limiting illnesses. Services include pain and symptom management, personal care assistance, spiritual and emotional support, and bereavement services for families.

Medicare, Medicaid, VA benefits, and most private insurance plans offer hospice coverage, with Medicare beneficiaries often receiving care at little to no cost. Heart to Heart’s team includes nurses, social workers, chaplains, home health aides, and volunteers. All are trained to provide compassionate care in a variety of settings, including private homes, residential facilities, and hospitals.

The organization’s Journey’s End program ensures increased support during a patient’s final days, with the goal of having a hospice professional present to assist families during this time.
