Central Texas residents are waking up to clear skies and mild temperatures in the 60s, with sunshine expected to push afternoon highs into the upper 80s and low 90s. The warm, dry, and breezy conditions will elevate the risk of wildfires today, particularly along and west of the I-35 corridor. Officials urge caution: avoid outdoor burning, secure tow chains, never park over tall grass, and properly dispose of smoking materials.

Looking ahead, the region will continue to experience above-average warmth through the week, with daily highs ranging from the mid 80s to lower 90s, roughly 5 to 15 degrees above mid-October norms. A slight pattern shift may bring low rain chances and slightly cooler temperatures by next weekend, with current forecasts suggesting a small chance of showers.

In the Austin and San Antonio area, mostly sunny skies will persist, with highs 5 to 9 degrees above seasonal averages. A weak front may bring isolated showers next weekend, though chances remain low.

Nationally, the Weather Prediction Center has issued a Slight Risk for excessive rainfall across parts of the Southwest and Central Rockies through Monday, with localized flash flooding possible—especially in urban areas and regions recently affected by wildfires. Meanwhile, heavy snow is forecast for the Cascades, Northern Rockies, and Sierra Nevada Mountains, as upper-level energy moves eastward.

Along the East Coast, a coastal low is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain from the Southeast to the Northeast through Tuesday. Strong onshore winds, high surf, and astronomical tides may lead to coastal flooding, beach erosion, and dangerous rip currents. Wind gusts exceeding 45 MPH and periods of heavy rain could also result in scattered power outages and inland flooding.
