Beginning October 6th, the City of Harker Heights will implement a new schedule for City Hall and its administrative offices, shifting to a four-day, 40-hour work week. The updated hours, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., are designed to improve access to city services and better accommodate residents with traditional workday commitments.

The extended daily hours provide eight additional hours per week for residents to conduct city business, offering more flexibility without requiring time off from work. This change reflects the city’s ongoing commitment to responsive service and community convenience.

No Impact to Emergency and Operational Services

The new schedule applies only to administrative offices. Police, fire, library, public works, animal control, and parks & recreation departments will continue to operate on their regular schedules, with all emergency and on-call services remaining fully available.

City officials emphasized that the shift also supports a healthier work-life balance for municipal employees, while maintaining high standards of service delivery.

For more information about department hours or services, residents are encouraged to visit the City of Harker Heights website.
