The City of Killeen has issued an emergency Boil Water Notice for properties located at 714 S. Fort Hood Street and 440 Plaza, following a water service interruption caused by a damaged water main.
An emergency situation occurred when water crews investigating a leak discovered that the main was too damaged to repair without a full shutdown. Crews promptly shut off water in the affected area to cut and replace the damaged section. Water services have since been restored, and crews remained on site until all repairs were completed.
As a precaution required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), residents and businesses in the impacted area are advised to boil all water prior to consumption. This includes water used for drinking, cooking, and making ice. Water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil for at least two minutes. Bottled water or water from a safe alternative source may also be used.
