Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Audrey O’Neill as the new Commissioner of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), entrusting her with leadership of one of the state’s most critical agencies dedicated to child and family welfare.
O’Neill has served in various leadership positions within DFPS prior to her appointment. Her career has been rooted in child protective services, where she has worked to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and families across Texas. Known for her collaborative approach and commitment to reform, O’Neill has played a key role in advancing initiatives that strengthen case management, improve foster care systems, and support frontline staff.
